Electric Floor Heating Systems

Electric floor heating systems are a popular option to warm your property. Whether you're using it as a primary heating system or a secondary one, various solutions are tailored to your specific needs.

There are five main types of electric systems:

Choosing the Best Type of Underfloor Heating

200W Heat Mats

200 watts per square meter mats are suited as a primary heat source and are recommended for high heat loss areas such as conservatories. This system is designed for use beneath tiled or stone floor finishes as they offer the best heat output.

160W Heat Mats

160 watts per square meter mats are usually suited as a primary heat source in most rooms that are fully insulated. The system is designed for use beneath tiled or stone floor finishes but can also be used with other floor finishes if installed correctly beneath a bed of self-levelling.

100W Heat Mats

100 watts per square meter mats are typically used in combination with a central heating system and serve as a secondary heat source to take the chill off cold tiles. This system is not suitable for use as a primary heat source.

Loose Cable Kits

Loose wire underfloor heating kits are excellent for smaller areas such as bathrooms or ensuites where there are several obstacles that make using a mat awkward. They can be installed under various floor finishes, provided they are installed correctly.

Foil Mats

Underfloor foil heating mats are ideal for use under floor finishes such as laminate, engineered wood, vinyl, lino, and carpet—provided the system is installed correctly and to specifications.

Heat Cable & Uncoupling Membrane Kits

Using a heat cable combined with decoupling membranes is a quick and easy solution that provides a 2-in-1 benefit.

  • Decoupling membranes help prevent floors from lifting or cracking due to movement in the substrate.
  • The heat cable fits into the membrane grooves, making installation fast and simple.

In-Screed Heat Cable

Ideal for new builds, extensions, or conservatories. In-Screed heat cables act as a primary or secondary heat source and are installed on insulation using staples or straps before the screed is poured.
